"What's that smell?"

"It's sexual tension"

Quoted from 1999 Golden Globe, Sketch by Keri Russell & Joshua Jackson

Shippers' Lab

I know what you are thinking --- you are a non-romer, and you know that once CSI starts the whole shippy thing, the ensemble show will become the next ER. While our beloved TPTB and leading man William Petersen ensured the fans that CSI will only be about science, it won't hurt to check out on the nerd squad's personal life --- well, the part that they let you, anyway. By The Way, if I don't want any relationships played out on screen, I will just watch Discovery Channel's New Detectives, right? A little UST can spice up our lives! After all, all's fair in love...

So what are the interesting combinations? Grissom and Lady Heather's dominance/submission tension? Or having Greggo painted with Latex and teased by Cat? Is there something going on between Cat and Warrick? How about Sara and Grissom? Recently they are a bit --- flirtatious --- to each other!

Here is the Shippers' Lab. We provide the set and chemicals, and you can just play it out. The only hazard in the lab? Explosion of sexual tension!

Useful Terms:

UST : Unresolved Sexual Tension

PSV : Personal Space Violation (translated to plain English: They are too darn close!)

TPTB : The Power To Be, means the higher exec's of the show and network.

Greg = Greggo = Liam, the wacky funny labtech/chemist

Catherine = Cat

Gil Grissom = Gil = Grissom = Griss

okay okay.. I am a Grissom/Sara shipper, but I love all combinations as long as they don't interfere with my dynamic duo. It's not romance yet. It's UN-Romance!

Grissom

Testing Combination Vital Sign The Profile
Grissom & Sara 4/21/2004
On
You know how controversial it is. Age Difference, Boss/Employee.. blah blah blah ..

She adores him, and he has a thing for her, too, although he tries oh-so-hard not to show it.

She tried to reach out, and he tried to avoid her; his withdrawnness grew deeper when finally one day she wanted to leave. ... thanks to Cat, he saved her with a plant.

Then he told her that he only started to appreciate beauty when he met her.

She dated others, he was jealous, but he did not tell her. Until one day, she survived an accident, and she asked him the ultimate question.

When he investigated the death of a woman who bore striking resemblance to her, he almost lost his edge. He dissected the killer's mind with his real feelings to her, and she'd heard everything from the other side of the glass.

The love story lives on.

Grissom & Catherine  4/21/2004
on hiatus
Undeniably, the chemistry is there --- in first season. A definite acknowledgement of any "history" between them had never happened, although she just sending off her charms.

As of April 2004, Catherine's boytoy is a bar owner (and a very hot one) on the Strip.

Feb. 7th, 02 Update:

Catherine seemed to get very comfortable in his house. AND THANKS FOR HER CLUEING IN,  Grissom called and kept Sara with the Plant!

April 21st, 04 update:

Although Grissom confessed to Catherine about his hearing problem in Season 3 finale, it did not mean that Catherine had gain his total trust. They might have been cozy on the phone in Jackpot, but Catherine's problems, both professionally and personally, had profound impacts on both her career reputation and her relationship with Grissom. Grissom was very mad of Catherine in Early Rollout for concealing to him the truth that she had cashed Sam Braun's check, and it is still a question whether their friendship will survive this incident, and it is even more difficult to imagine any kind of romantic relationship build on that foundation.

Grissom &

The Cool  "Pin Me Up The Wall" Lady Tech

4/21/2004
dead like corpses
(Pilot) Grissom mentioned that he took her out, or they were set out on a blind date;  according to the cool lady, cooking spray and rubber glove went on better than their date. And then they went on a discussion about Pink Floyd. You gotta be THAT COOL to not hitting up with Gil!

The Cool lady tech appeared in a few later episode, but we never saw Grissom talked to her later.

p.s: The Cool Lady Tech, played by Susan Gibney, is one of my favorite guest appearances.

Grissom & Teri Miller 4/21/2004
under rug swepts
Teri Miller (played by Pamela Gidley) is now known as "Grissom's love interest"; however, we haven't seen her so far in season 2. We first saw Teri in "Who Are You?", in which she was called to help the CSI for her forensic anthropology expertee. Both of them had a great time with casting the dead body, and Teri left her number to Gil :
  • Teri : I left my phone number on your fish corkboard
  • Gil : The Ones That Get Away?
  • Teri : (smile) Let's hope not.

Teri appeared next time in "Face Lift". Gil convinced her to stay for a date, but in the middle of the dinner Gil was interrupted by his work and Teri left... (Sobell in TWoP: TURN THAT THING OFF BEFORE YOUR DATE!)

When we saw her in "Evaluation Day", she seemed to forgive Gil. But. we haven't seen her so far... what is going on here?

For more about this relationship, please check on a page in WP World, titled "Teri's Wicked Game"

Grissom & Lady Heather 4/21/2004
under rug swepts
(Slave of Las Vegas) she is clever, smart, and independent. As a dominatrix queen, she can read through human behavior, including Grissom.

Grissom commented her on "you're an anthropologist." It just makes me crack... (a far cry for Teri!)

April 21st 2004 update:

After last years' fiasco of "Lady Heather's box", the affair died down without a trace, probably due to the lack of long term continuity of the guest actress Melinda Clarke and, lets just say it out loud, where did that plot come from? The Outer space? I don't think a true Lady Heather's fan would have loved how she was portrayed as a weak woman and stupid enough to mess around in an ongoing investigation in which she was under suspicion. Where was the smart and self content Lady Heather in Slave of Las Vegas? Even from a shippy point of view, the story was out of the blue and it was more of a man's lust than intellectual mingling. Apparently the writers had not peruse this plot line for over an year, and since Melinda Clarke has many projects on her belt now, it is safe to say that Lady Heather will not be back on the series.

Catherine

Catherine & the Bar Owner 4/21/2004
On ... fire!
Catherine knew him from Season 4's "Getting off" after 6 months of sexless life. Hot guy, and seemingly a husband material with good financial background. Good for her!
Catherine & Warrick 4/21/2004
the vague zone
Warrick is good with kids (I am not talking about Ellie Brass hitting on him; I am talking about Lindsay). He took great care of Lindsay in "The Finger" and shared a soft friendly cheek-kiss. Makes me wonder...

Apirl 21st, 2004 Update:

throughtout Season 3 and 4, Warrick had been very sweet to Catherine. At one point in early season 4 the writers seemed had been trying to put them together by showing us their private conversations alone in the locker room with lines like "the weight on your shoulder", or images like a half naked Warrick.

Catherine & Eddie

(the ex)

4/21/2004
very much dead
Eddie is the ex husband, and the father of her daughter Lindsay.  He is a well-hated character --- he is basically a jerk, irresponsible, and jealous. Although he does love his family, he just can't get along with Catherine and her work. He always suspected there was something going on between Cath and Grissom....well, we know that's totally not true.
Catherine & The District Engineer 4/21/2004
under rug swept
(Scuba Doobie-Doo, Justice is Served, $35K O.B.O.) The great looking hunk! He is the good guy and I am totally keeping my hope on these two!
Catherine & ...

Greg?

4/21/2004
under rug swept
Well, Greg is known to have a crush on Catherine, and he made a lot of jokes about it. Catherine gets used to it and joked around it too ...
  • Catherine : "When we [Catherine and Grissom] have a problem, I don't paint Greg Sanders in latex and stick a straw up his nose."
  • Grissom : "Good. He'll probably like it."

As Greg is now trying to ask Sara out for a date, this crush is over.

April 21st 2004

Although Catherine had took Greggo under her wing and training him to be a field CSI, the gesture was more an offer from Catherine for her own power play in the shift than affections towards him.

Catherine & Grissom 4/21/2004
on hiatus
As said above.

Nick

Nick & Kristy Hopkins 04/21/2004
very much dead
Nick first met Kristy (played by Krista Allen, a.k.a Maitreya/Jade Blue Afterglow on the X-files or "Orcale" on Charmed) in Pilot. She was a prostitute, a real beauty, and robbed money off her customers after ... the tricks... Anyway, Nick found her at her driving accident because she accidentally absorbed the drugs that used on her clients in herself; and so, the good-luck striking Nick solved his 100th case.

Nick ran into Kristy again in I-15 Murders, and ended up sleeping with her in the beginning of Boom.

Sadly, Kristy was murdered right after. Nick was the prime suspect although later proven innocent. Nick paid for her funeral.

Nick & ...

SARA ?

04/21/2004
it was never started
To Say that they will become a couple, they are more like two DYSFUNCTIONAL SIBLINGS! (Evie said: NIck was all "Papa Grissom, look at me!") They are always teasing each others. But, hey, who knows? Somehow Nick knows Sara better than anybody else, and that's why he teases her that often. They are young and good looking... If I were Sara I would probably eat Nick up!
Nick &  Nigel Crane ??? 04/21/2004
locked away somewhere
Crane was Nick's stalker who was obsessed with him and gradually wanted to become Nick. Crane's lines made me think of the Ememen song "STAN" --- "We can be together too.."

Creepy, eh? The next Creepy thing: Crane was played by Doug Hutchison, a.k.a Eugene Victor Tooms, the liver eater on The X-Files. Along with his history with Kristy, Nick My Boy, you've made to the X-Link "paranormal Relationships" after Catherine.

Sara & The Rescue One guy, Hank 04/21/2004
under rug swept
She flirted with him over a dead body. Hank was scared off her by the smell of the Liquid Man when he tried to ask her out for lunch.

Sara dated Hank briefly in Season 3, but when she found out that Hank had cheated on her... or rather, cheated on his other girlfriend with her, she called off the relationship peacefully.

Sara & ..

David the assistant corner?

04/21/2004
it was never started
It ain't happening. David Phillip had a crush on her, and Sara refused him. "You got a C for cute, though". But his calmly attitude towards the smelly Liquid Man, echoing Greg's "A real man wouldn't mind", makes him so much more admirable than ever!
Sara & ... Nick? 04/21/2004
it was never started
See above "Nick and Sara" section.

When Nick told Sara that she needed to get out more (well.. how did he know? was he ears-dropping on Sara's case?), Sara, with what happened with her case, decided to change her life style.

* the original script noted that Sara actually called Nick in "You've Got Male", but it ended up on the cutting room floor.

Sara & Greg 04/21/2004
under rug swept
  • Greg: Do You Think Sara Will Go Out With Me?
  • Catherine: Sure.. . As long as you don't tell her it's a date.

.. after that Rescue One guy left. Greg told Sara that, "A real man wouldn't mind." wow..

Greg tried to impress Sara all the time --- doing extra research for her ("Organ Grinder"), showing off his knowledge on hockey blades... etc. But Sara seemed to be less interested unitl in "Chasing The Bus", Greg jumped in the field and was teased by his fellow lab techs; Sara stood up for him.

Sara was not interested in Greg at all. Now we have a reason... (see next)

Warrick

Warrick & Lili Ivers  She was the beautiful, talented aspiring jazz singer; he was the deep man with passions locked inside. It was a love at first sight; unfortunately, she was a junkie. Although she was innocent of murder, he left her.
Warrick & Catherine? see above, Cat & Warrick

Greg

Greg & ... Catherine? Yep. It's over.
Greg & ... Sara? Poor Greg.  He is now totally in the Puppy Love Stage ever since he tried to ask Sara out without telling her it was a date. He will do anything for Sara, even if it means staying up late for extra work in the lab. And the way he looks and talks to Sara is totally different from before. He is all --- puppy-ish --- oh GREGGO! But Sara has no idea yet! (kudo to Eric, who played the puppy love so well I always feel sorry for him!)

Will Sara break his heart? Certainly she would.

He tried very hard to impress her, but she always shut her door in front of her. If you think Sara just didn't click with Greg, well, the situation may be a little bit more complicated than that...

  • Grissom [to Sara]:  Say Goodbye to Greg.
